Management

Managers should in their most fundamental state, do everything for an artist so that the artist can focus on being a great artist.

The Manager is the advocate for the artist and must work in the best interest of his client. He is the employee of the artist. If this one function does not happen, the rest is worthless.

Most people need encouragement, and artists are no exception.  A manager needs to make a regular habit of encouraging their artists keeping them focused on their art.   The artist has many things to do to make their career work and these tasks can be a drag for sure, so, a good word now and again is a good thing to do.

Many players can get in a rut and writers can get writers block. So it’s important to keep things fresh for the artist. Sometimes artists need to be pushed and challenged and other times they need to break things up and get inspired. Managers need to be aware of these personal shifts and be able to point the artist in the right direction.

It’s always important to be relevant in current technology, and new media practices. There are many new and changing methods of communicating with fans and managers must be aware of the best avenues to use for their artists.

The music business is a business of friends.  Be connected and work to these ends.

It is also very important to understand people, and know how to communicate with them.  Learning the ways people like to communicate so as to effectively get work accomplished is a necessity.

Be able to adapt to anything new or different.
